The councillor was previously branch secretary in South Thanet, where Nigel Farage is seeking election as an MP.


Farage has since described her comments as "deeply racist". He told Radio 4: "Clearly she doesn't have any understanding of the deep offence she has caused by her comments, and we took the right decision.

She told the BBC: "I still honestly believe what I said was never in any way racist or derogatory.


I used the word negroes as you would do Asians, Chinese, Muslims, Jews. It's a description. It's not an insult.


In the same way that that you would say 'Well what do you mean Jewish?' They belong to a community, they've got a certain faith, they usually have noses that have a bit of a curve to them".


The BBC captured her comments as part of a documentary following UKIP activists in Kent, 'Meet the Ukippers'.
