Andrew Lippa's oratorio about the life of America's first openly gay politician to be elected to public office is finally making its way to New York, for one night only, at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. The piece, which premiered in July 2013 with the help of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, follows the life of Milk from childhood through his assassination. "Harvey Milk himself was a very uplifting hopeful, person. Leaping, trying something before you know what the end result is going to be. Moving, you might soar. It's great lesson for us all today," Chenoweth told BuzzFeed.
The production will feature Lippa in the title role along with Chenoweth and a chorus of over 125 singers. "I've now rehearsed it for several weeks and it still brings me to tears, and always in different spots," Chenoweth added of the show which benefits the Harvey Milk Arts Fund and includes a committee of stars supporting the production including Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kirsten Gillibrand as well as stars like Hugh Jackman, Julianne Moore, Jonathan Groff, and Alan Cumming. "I love that Harvey Milk single-handedly changed the gay community with his love and hope. And because of him, in his death, it was truly the beginning of change. And I'm proud Andrew chose to write about him."

Serves 2 – 3
INGREDIENTS
4 bell peppers, any color, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 head of broccoli, cut into bite-sized florets
3 tablespoons of olive oil, divided
salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup of uncooked brown jasmine rice
2 ¼ cups of vegetable stock (water is okay if you don't have stock)
½ cup of grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon of parsley, chopped
PREPARATION
Preheat your oven to 450°F, and line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped peppers and broccoli, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Toss everything together and then spread on the baking sheets.
Roast the vegetables for about 20 — 25 minutes. You want the broccoli to be slightly charred and the peppers to start to blacken around the edges.
Meanwhile, make your rice. In a large saucepan, heat the third tablespoon of olive oil and toast the uncooked rice for a minute. Add the vegetable stock and bring to a boil. (If you're using water, add some salt, too.) When it starts to boil, close the lid, turn down the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 20 – 30 minutes, or until all of the liquid is absorbed.
When the vegetables are done, add them to the rice, as well as the Parmesan and parsley. Stir it all together.
To serve, divide between 2 or 3 bowls, depending on how hungry you are. Garnish with extra parsley and/or Parmesan, if you want.

During Monday night’s game, the Kansas City safety, who is Muslim, was penalized for “unsportsmanlike behavior” when he prayed to celebrate his touchdown. An NFL spokesman said Tuesday that he should not have been penalized.
According to SBNation, the referee flagged him for "unsportsmanlike conduct, going to the ground." According to the NFL rulebook, players are prohibited from engaging in prolonged or excessive celebrations while on the ground.

Diana Opoti is a fashion and brand consultant in Nairobi, Kenya, and she hosted a popular television program about African designers. She capped off 100 Days of African Fashion with this ensemble, featuring a clutch in hand-embroidered silk by Neha Designs, a sterling silver ring by Gladys Macharia (Kenya), and a bracelet by Uru Diamonds (Tanzania).
Opoti is showing off earrings, bangles and a ring by an up-and-coming jeweller named Gladys Macharia, who uses recycled brass and precious local stones in her designs.
"You want a pencil skirt, it's in a fabric that you like, brilliant! Buy it." That goes for jewelry, too. Ghanian luxury designer Mina Evans' pencil skirt was part of a showcase Evans designed for Vlisco, the haute Dutch wax print company.
