Goodbye, maestro.
Earlier this month, Argentine rocker Gustavo Cerati died after spending four years in a coma brought on by a stroke. He was 55.
This was the scene in his native Argentina. Yep, he was a big deal. And here's why:
He made Argentina dance again.
After spending decades under dictatorial rule, Argentina was in need of a pick-me-up. Cerati and his band Soda Stereo reminded the country it was OK to have fun.
He drew from influences both home and abroad.
Although Soda was heavily influenced by bands like The Police and The Cure, they also carried the torch that was lit by Latin rock legends Luis Alberto "Flaco" Spinetta, Sui Generis and Virus.
